JAN WILLEM DE VRIEND
Jan Willem de Vriend was founder of the Combattimento Consort Amsterdam and is currently chief conductor and artistic director of the Netherlands Symphony Orchestra. Since September 2015 De Vriend is also chief conductor of The Hague Philharmonic. Furthermore he is principal guest conductor of the philharmonie zuidnederland and recently he was appointed as principal guest conductor at L’Orquestra Simfònica de Barcelona i Nacional de Catalunya and Orchestre National de Lille.
In addition, De Vriend regularly conducts the Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra, Netherlands Radio Philharmonic Orchestra, Rotterdam Philharmonic Orchestra, Mozarteum Orchester Salzburg, Wiener Concert-Verein, Konzerthausorchester Berlin and the Hong Kong Philharmonic Orchestra.
De Vriend was awarded the Dutch Radio 4 Prize of the year 2012. The Radio 4 Prize is awarded to a musician who has distinguished himself in bringing classical music to a broad public.
Recent and future engagements include concerts with Bergen Philharmonic Orchestra, Tonhalle Orchester together with Simone Kermes, L’Orquestra Simfònica de Barcelona, Royal Flemish Philharmonic, National Orchestra of Belgium and the HR-Sinfonieorchester Frankfurt. The Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra invited him for the 2015 Christmas matinee concert. They performed the Christmas Oratorio.
