TROMBONIST

Principal trombonist of the Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra, Jörgen van Rijen is also much in demand as a soloist with a special commitment to promoting his instrument, developing new repertoire and bringing the existing repertoire to a broader audience. He won several international competitions and was the first trombonist to receive the Dutch Music Prize and the Borletti Buitoni Trust Award. Renowned composers like MacMillan, Tan Dun, Muhly, Aho and Dessner dedicated new works to him. As a soloist he appeared with orchestras such as the Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra, BBC Symphony, Dallas Symphony, Tokyo Philharmonic, Orchestre de la Suisse Romande and Taiwan National Symphony a.o.
