Punto Arte Festival 2026 · Programme
Monday, 6 July — 19:00 · Villa Palagione
Joseph Haydn · Opera pasticcio based on La Canterina
This performance is an exclusive evening for sponsors and patrons of Punto Arte.
Haydn's comic opera — a scheming mother, two hapless suitors, a daughter who outwits them all — performed in a kitchen, on a lawn, under the Tuscan sky. With Maartje Rammeloo, Marcel Reijans, Berend Eijkhout and Jan Willem Baljet, conducted by Jan Willem de Vriend, staged by Eva Buchmann. Intimate, live, and completely without distance between stage and audience. Interested in joining us as a sponsor or patron? Visit our Patrons & Partners page.
Tuesday, 7 July — 11:00 · Teatro Persio Flacco
Johannes Brahms · Piano Quintet in F minor
One of the great works of chamber music, played in one of Volterra's most intimate venues. Hans Eijsackers (piano), Elisabeth Perry and Melanie Jansen (violin), Richard Wolfe (viola) and Judith Chapman (cello) bring Brahms's searching, deeply serious Quintet to a room built for exactly that kind of attention.
Tuesday, 7 July — 19:00 · Villa Viti Mazzolla
Haydn · Trumpet Concerto · Mendelssohn · "Italian" Symphony
Two works that carry you somewhere else entirely. Haydn's Trumpet Concerto — with Arthur Kerklaan as soloist — is elegant and surprising; Mendelssohn's "Italian" Symphony sweeps and soars. Heard together at Villa Viti Mazzolla as the evening light fades, with the Netherlands Festival Orchestra conducted by Jan Willem de Vriend, they become something more than a concert.
A dinner ticket is required to join the musically framed dinner that follows. Book yours when purchasing your concert ticket.
Wednesday, 8 July — 11:00 · Pinacoteca
Franz Schubert · Octet in F major
Nearly an hour of Schubert, unhurried and luminous, performed inside Volterra's civic museum. Elisabeth Perry, Johan Olof (violin), Richard Wolfe (viola), René Geesing (cello), Eric Olsman (double bass), Frank van den Brink (clarinet), Hanneke Nij (bassoon) and Wouter Brouwer (horn) bring one of his most generous works to life. Seven players, one room, no distractions.
Wednesday, 8 July — 19:00 · Garden, Conservatorio San Lino
Surprise Concert · Netherlands Festival Orchestra
The programme is secret. That is the point. Jan Willem de Vriend and the Netherlands Festival Orchestra perform in the garden of the Conservatorio San Lino — and what they play, only they know. Come without expectations. Leave with a memory.

Joseph Haydn · Opera pasticcio based on La Canterina · Closing Night
The festival ends where it began: on the lawn at Villa Palagione, with Gasparina still refusing to be claimed by anyone. Maartje Rammeloo, Marcel Reijans, Berend Eijkhout and Jan Willem Baljet, conducted by Jan Willem de Vriend, staged by Eva Buchmann in a second performance that carries the full weight of a final Tuscan evening.
A dinner ticket is required to join the dinner that follows the concerts. Book yours when purchasing your concert ticket.
